Halloween Files

For many, "Spooky Season" has already taken hold in the media - if it ever truly left. Horror films surge in popularity this time of year - some fresh and terrifyingly original, others resurrected annually like the classics they are.

Horror stories - paralleling our reality - never seem to die - instead choosing to reboot with themes created to elicit the emotions of viewers.

I often wonder why people deliberately chose to be scared as if a built-in mechanism - all the while having to remind themselves about the joy and benefits of positive reactions. It's as if humans are asleep - and a sudden negative event jolts them awake if only momentarily - before they slip back into their somnambulistic state.

I know what you're thinking ... many ingenious people believe that this reality is a dream, illusion, more recently explained as virtual content - while the true reality exists outside or alongside this one.

Across neighborhoods and city streets, Halloween decor emerges in full force. Some displays are charming and subtle, while others light up the night with animatronics, sound effects, and elaborate scenes that draw curious spectators. Everywhere you look, the spirit of Halloween takes shape, inviting us to revel in the thrill of the eerie and the unknown.

So far, New York City's Halloween festivities have kicked off with playful flair - parades spotlighting children and pets dressed in their most creative costumes. But the main event is still to come. This Friday, Halloween night, marks the 52nd Annual Village Halloween Parade - a beloved tradition that draws thousands into the streets of Greenwich Village.

This year's theme - "It's a Potluck! - highlights community and shared abundance. The 2025 Grand Marshal - City Harvest - embodies that mission perfectly. Their dedication to rescuing fresh produce and providing it free of charge to New Yorkers across all five boroughs aligns naturally with the parade's spirit. Coming just after Make a Difference Day, this celebration reinforces the idea that collective kindness nourishes a city.

The forces of Nature and the Elements influence Climate

As NYC prepares to revel in playful scary events - a very real fear looms beyond its borders. Hurricane Melissa Tuesday - Conditions worsening in Jamaica with planet's strongest Category 5 storm hours from historic landfall. Melissa could become one of the worst storms the island has ever endured, not just in its initial impact but in the devastation that may follow.

As hurricanes gain unprecedented strength - their destructive power feels almost apocalyptic - as if fulfilling biblical end-time warnings and ancient flood narratives woven through scripture.

Yet while the world embrace the playful thrills of Halloween costumes, community spirit, and celebrations of abundance - nature reminds us that true terror is not make-believe. As Hurricane Melissa churns with unprecedented power, we are forced to reckon with a world where frightening forces outside our control are becoming more frequent, more violent, and more real. Storms affect emotions, so brace for impact if anyone around you is mentally unstable, prone to rage disorder, and lacks impulse control.

Nature speak...

Oceans speak to humanity through the flow of the collective unconscious. Tectonic plates and ocean venues dictate reality and though humans find calmness watching the sea - in a physical (bipolar) reality - a down-side is often presented. Both the Atlantic and Pacific plates have been speaking to us for decades. Now it's time to pay attention.

Unrelenting winds and spiraling tornadoes remind souls of the movement of consciousness and time - not linear but 'spiraling' - a word often used with mental illness.

Halloween season has always played on our fear of the unknown. Perhaps the most unsettling revelation is that the danger isn't lurking in shadows and on the screen - it's visible in satellite imagery, emergency alerts, and in the stories of survivors rebuilding again and again - the algorithm of reality in it's many iterations.

They are all part of escalating end time events that are tricks not treats.
