Lots of knockouts, pageantry, and a few big upsets at UFC event on White House lawn NBC - June 14, 2026
I didn't watch the event which was presented on Paramount+ for those who were and still are interested in seeing the highlights. Neither Trump nor the events are interest to me.
President Donald Trump celebrated his 80th birthday Sunday night with an unprecedented spectacle on the White House South Lawn. Dubbed "UFC Freedom 250," the event transformed the historic grounds into a massive outdoor arena beneath a towering steel structure known as "The Claw." Thousands of invited guests attended, while tens of thousands more watched from the nearby Ellipse.
The evening featured seven UFC bouts, military flyovers, patriotic music, celebrity guests, and appearances by UFC President Dana White and First Lady Melania Trump. The main event saw Justin Gaethje defeat Ilia Topuria to capture the lightweight title. Supporters hailed the celebration as a uniquely American blend of sports and patriotism, while critics questioned the use of the White House as the backdrop for a major sporting event. Regardless of opinion, it was one of the most unusual presidential birthday celebrations in modern American history.
The event drew more than 4,000 invited guests to the South Lawn and marked the first time a UFC card was held at the White House.
The festivities stretched past midnight as Trump's 80th birthday celebration and UFC Freedom 250 concluded in the early hours of June 15, capping an evening of championship fights, military pageantry, celebrity appearances, and one of the most unusual events ever staged on the White House grounds.
